GPI se une a la red de la Fundación Ellen MacArthur para ayudar a acelerar la transición a la economía circular

Paper-based packaging leader Graphic Packaging has signed up to become a member of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Network — the world’s leading circular economy network.

The Foundation’s paper, Completing the Picture: How the Circular Economy Tackles Climate Change, found that If the circular economy was applied in just five key sectors (steel, aluminum, cement, plastic and food), it could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 9.3 billion tonnes of CO2e in 2050, the equivalent to eliminating all transport emissions globally.

The charity’s mission is to accelerate the global transition to a circular economy — a model based on the key principles of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems. Graphic Packaging’s innovative solutions are closely aligned with sustainability, and the company’s participation in the Network demonstrates its commitment to engaging with key organizations and businesses to encourage greater circularity in packaging.

Ricardo De Genova, senior vice president, global innovation and new business development at Graphic Packaging, commented: “We’re delighted to become a member of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Graphic Packaging has consistently supported brands and retailers to increase their use of renewable and recyclable materials in product packaging. Joining the Foundation enables us to further this work on a greater scale, supporting packaging supply chains as they make the transition towards greater adoption of circular innovation.”

“Joining the Ellen MacArthur Foundation is another step in our sustainability journey. Engaging in wider discussions on the circular economy will support our Vision 2025 goals, which include achieving 100% recyclability of our packaging solutions,” stated Andrew Johnson, vice president, government affairs and sustainability at Graphic Packaging.

Founded by Dame Ellen MacArthur, the Foundation works with, and inspires, business, academia, policymakers, and institutions to mobilize circular economy solutions at scale, globally — solutions that create better growth and tackle global challenges including climate change, waste and pollution, and biodiversity loss..
